DIY Betsey Johnson inspired Gemstone Necklace (From her Fall 2104 'Hot' Collection)

Finding the jewellery to go with my Betsey Johnson inspired 60s/80s look was a tad harder than I expected, so I decided to go a bit DIY and MacGyver myself something instead, lol!

Here's the video with the whole outfit in case you missed it :)

To make the pendant I wore in the video you need these items.

Step 1:

Grab 2 flat back gemstones and the pendant back.

Step 2: Add Glue to the back of the gemstones.

Step 3: Stick the pendant back to one gemstone and then attach the other gemstone on top to create a mock 3D stone. Let the gemstone pendant dry (I was naughty and ended up using super glue so I could take the pics faster but I paid for it because the glue effected the backing of the stones so try to use gem glue and let it set overnight) ;)

Step 4: With some plyers twist open one of the links on the chain. You'll need two pairs of plyers, one to hold and one to twist. You can buy these at craft/fabric shops.

Step 5: Slip the pendant over the open link and then twist the link closed again.

Step 6: And voila! Your finished gemstone pendant! :P

DIY Betsey Johnson inspired Raygun Earrings (From her Fall 2104 'Hot' Collection)

The earrings are a fun take on Betsey's. The Betsey Johnson earrings had a more modern looking pair of guns on them but I decided to go retro and use some resin ones I already had poured. I am lucky enough to have resin mould making skills and had previously created a mould for these rayguns from some $2 shop water pistols :P (I'll do a mould making tutorial soon, guys I promise) ;) Then I just bought a pair of cheap hoop earrings to attach the guns to.

You can see in the pic above that the guns I had already poured were not actually gold but I didn't really have time to make a new pair of gold ones (the resin I use takes between 12 and 24 hours to dry), so I used gold paint I already had to spray them instead. I do my spraying out on the balcony in a cardboard 'spray booth', lol.

I sprayed one side at a time, leaving time for the paint to dry on the first side before moving on to the second side I then gave them both a coat of clear gloss on the outer side and left them to dry.

I then attached the rayguns to the earrings using a two part super glue.

And the finished result is this! My very own pair of Raygun earrings!
